President Biden Signs Historic Climate Legislation Into Law, Paving the Way for Local Solar Expansion

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Local Solar for All, a coalition dedicated to expanding access to local solar and battery-generated power, applauded President Biden for signing The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 into law, which will propel the country towards energy security and take concrete steps to address the climate crisis. Jaime Horn, spokesperson for the coalition, released the following statement in support of the vote:

“We thank President Biden for leading the charge to enact the most comprehensive climate policy in American history that will advance unprecedented clean energy investments to not only lower energy costs for American families and businesses but also reduce carbon pollution by 40 percent before the end of the decade.

The Inflation Reduction Act becoming law is nothing short of historic and we also applaud our Congressional leaders for delivering a win for our health, a win for our economy, a win for environmental justice, and a win for our communities. This law will make unprecedented investments in clean energy deployment and manufacturing, and will cement certainty for an industry that produces reliable and affordable clean energy produced right here at home.

In addition to driving down inflation, the Inflation Reduction Act will mobilize billions of dollars to boost domestic manufacturing of clean energy infrastructure and strengthen tax credits to help even more American communities access local solar projects. It will also create well-paying clean energy jobs and help expand economic opportunity for workers in the solar industry.

We commend our leaders in Washington for remaining steadfast in working to fulfill President Biden’s commitments to expand clean energy access and to tackle the climate crisis, and for getting this historic legislation over the finish line.”
